There is nothing quite like the Sunday Scaries to ruin a weekend. But for me, Sunday has become my secret weapon for a seamless Monday morning. Every Sunday, I head to my wardrobe room to pull my looks for the entire week—from the base layers to the turquoise jewelry and, of course, the boots.
Why the Sunday Ritual Works
Let’s be real: who doesn't love the creative process of styling? By taking one hour on Sunday to curate five outfits, I’m not just picking clothes; I’m "pre-solving" my morning stress.
Decision Fatigue: Gone. I don’t have to stare blankly at my closet at 7:00 AM.
The Office "Tundra": If you work in an office, you know there is only one temperature: Freezing. 🥶 It doesn't matter if it’s 90 degrees outside or mid-winter; that AC is relentless.
Seamless Transitions:Â I look at my calendar for the week. If I have a post-work event or a quick happy hour, I style an outfit that can handle the desk and the dinner.
The Art of the Layer
In my world, layering isn't just a necessity for the office chill—it’s the soul of the Boho-Western style. My process is "layer to layer." I start with the foundation, then add that cozy cardigan or a structured denim jacket that brings the look together.
My "Must-Haves" for the Week:
The Base:Â Think lace slips or graphic tees.
The Texture:Â A chunky knit or an embroidered vest.
The Statement:Â A wide-brim hat or my favorite pair of Western boots (they are all my favorite).
Picking everything out—right down to the socks and accessories—means I can grab my coffee and head out the door feeling like "Ali" without the rush.
My "Pro-Style" Tips for a Stress-Free Week
Weather-Proof Your Wardrobe: Always check the forecast on Sunday but stay flexible. I like to have 1–2 "pivot pieces" ready just in case the California weather decides to flip the script, or if a last-minute work event pops up.
The "Work to Western" Transition: I love pieces that pull double duty. Take my long button-down dresses, for example. In the office, I keep them buttoned up for a polished, professional look. But the second I clock out? I’ll unbutton the top for a relaxed vibe or open up the bottom buttons to really show off those statement boots.
The "Emergency" Layer: Even though I style my layers on Sunday, I always keep a heavier, warmer jacket in my car. You never know when a coworker might turn the office into a literal freezer 🥶—it’s better to have that extra layer ready to go than to spend the day shivering!
Carving Out "Me Time": Beyond just being organized, this hour on Sunday is time I’ve carved out just for myself. It’s a chance to be creative in my own space and do what I love before the "crazy" of the work week or the rest of the world starts. It’s my favorite way to ground myself before Monday hits.
How do you prep for your week? Do you "wing it" every morning, or are you a Sunday Stylist like me?
We are almost halfway through the work week! Whether the days feel long or the office is extra chilly, we’re heading toward the finish line together. Even if the week gets a little chaotic, at least we know our outfits look the part.
