Elevating the Brim: A Visual Guide to Hat Vibes

There is something about a hat that just anchors an entire look. It’s that final, gritty-yet-soulful layer that takes an outfit from "just getting dressed" to "making a statement." I’ve been obsessed with taking my go-to brims and adding a little extra soul to them—turning a standard piece into something that feels uniquely Boho-Western.

Most of the hats you see here are from Gigi Pip. I’m a huge fan of their quality—the wool is substantial enough to withstand the heat from branding tools and hot glue without losing its integrity. They are incredibly well-made; the rims stay perfect, and I love the variety of sizing (plus, most of them are adjustable!), which makes them the perfect canvas for these projects.

I’m sharing some of my favorite personal customizations today to spark some inspiration for your own wardrobe.

A cream-colored felt hat adorned with a floral fabric wrap and several large, natural-toned feathers tucked into the side.

A quick note on the details: I gathered these accents months ago from Amazon, but as I no longer shop there or promote them, I won’t be sharing links. Instead, I encourage you to hunt for unique treasures at your local bead shops, thrift stores, or Poshmark to find charms with a history!

Next time you’re passing a small business or scrolling through a resale app, look for that one piece of hardware that speaks to you. Your hat—and your style—will thank you for the extra character.

Stay Wild, Stay Soulful.
